A escultura (acima/ Zig-Zag Sculpture) e as mesas (abaixo/ Zig-Zag Coffee Table #1 e #2) são feitas de centenas de pedaços de madeira sustentável (álamo), mantidos juntos com centenas de dobradiças de aço e parafusos. Cada peça é única e feita a mão por Michael Jantzen. Arte funcional.
Camadas de tiras de madeira são articuladas juntas e, então, depois, anexadas de forma cruzada, a fim de manter cada uma delas, e a estrutura inteira, muito rígida. Mesmo que as estruturas sejam rígidas, elas não parecem ser. Elas parecem estar presas por algum tipo de força desconhecida.
The sculpture (Zig-Zag Sculpture) and tables (Zig-Zag Coffee Table #1 and #2) are made of hundreds of pieces of sustainable wood (poplar wood) held together with hundreds of steel hinges and screws. Each piece (above) is unique and hand-made by Michael Jantzen. Functional art.
Layers of wood strips are hinged together and then attached in a crossover way in order to keep each of them, and the whole structure, very rigid. Even though the structures are rigid, they do not appear to be. They seem to be held together by some kind of unknown force. Who knows?
