As janelas panorâmicas no térreo oferecem vistas do mar. É possível sair da sala de estar e dar diretamente na praia. No andar superior — com sua aparência flutuante —, pode-se desfrutar de vistas extraordinárias do mar, a partir dos terraços, quartos e banheiros.
The Dune House equilibra modernidade com tradição. É uma surpreendente reinvenção e reinterpretação da habitação à beira-mar inglesa.
Some years ago ESCALA MAGAZINE interviewed one of Norway’s most reknown practices: Jarmund/ Vigsnæs Architects (JVA). Now, here we are, showing you another creation of the practice: The Dune House, JVA’s first UK building. It is located on the southern edge of Thorpeness village, in Suffolk. The project has drawn our attention, particularly, for its different roof — which plays with its geometry — and the contrast of the materials. On the ground floor, concrete, glass, and aluminium; on the upper floor, timber planks.
The panoramic windows on the ground floor offer views of the sea. It is possible to walk out from the living room directly onto the beach. On the upper floor — with its floating appearance —, one can enjoy extraordinary views over the sea from the terraces, bedrooms, and bathrooms.
Each of the four double bedrooms has a bathtub in it. The windows have been carefully positioned, so that one can lie in warm water and take in views of the North Sea and surrounding meadows. Separate shower and toilet facilities are attached to each room.
The Dune House balances modernity with tradition. It is a stunning reinvention and reinterpretation of the English seaside dwelling.
